How to Search Wheaton Court Docket Records
Maryland provides free online access to court docket records through Maryland Case Search. You do not need an account to use it. The tool covers both Circuit Court and District Court records statewide, so cases from Wheaton and the rest of Montgomery County are all accessible in the same system. A CAPTCHA check is required at the start of each session before search results are shown.
To find Wheaton area cases, select "Montgomery County" as the jurisdiction in the search interface. You can search by party name, case number, attorney name, citation number, or filing date range. Name searches require entering the last name first, followed by a comma and the first name. Use the percent sign (%) at the end of a name as a wildcard for partial matches. For instance, "Gar%" pulls up Garcia, Gardner, Garner, and any other name starting with those letters. The wildcard only works at the end of a word, not in the middle. Results are capped at 500 entries per search.
A 2024 law change affects what shows up online for criminal cases. Cases that ended in dismissal, nolle prosequi, or acquittal are no longer visible through the online search. Those records still exist at the Rockville courthouse and can be reviewed in person, but they are excluded from public online results. This applies statewide.
The database updates overnight. Filings and updates from today may not appear in search results until the following morning. For up-to-the-minute docket status on a specific case, call the clerk's office directly.
